News - Modified Production Number 8

Charlton Raceway

As support to World Series Sprintcars a field of Modified Production set out to do battle on a dry/hard track that had a sprinkle of water on it. Needless to say it was like an ice skating rink for the first few laps. Rodney started out of 4 and struggled with his car which was handling badly. He spun and re-joined the pack at the back and had to settle for following them home in 11th. On return to the pits he found a broken shock mount, courtesy of the roll-over the meeting before in Brisbane was the contributing factor to the poor handling car.

Heat 2 Rodney started out of 11 in an inverted grid from heat 1. On the start Rodney had a half spin which by the time he re-gained control he was mid pack where all the action was. The field went 4 wide into turn 1 and surprisingly everyone came out of turn 2, however going into turn 3 Rodney baulked to avoid the cars in front and he got turned around from behind. He had to restart the race from the rear and worked his way forward into 5th spot.

Heat 3 Rodney started out of 11 and it was a follow-the-leader race, with a few cars withdrawing from the race leaving Rodney to finish in 9th.

The feature Rodney qualified out of 8. Finally there was a track that hadn't seen the water truck and although it was black and rough as Rodney likes it, it was still a challenging track to race on. Rodney had settled into the track after a troubling start to get through the heats and worked his way up to 2nd finishing behind Qld 1 Shane Macdonald.
