Charlton Raceway - 4th April - Club meeting

Rodney took Andrew Harpers BA (which he built) for a run while I stepped into #8 for my 2nd run of the season. 6 months out of the seat was not a good thing. I found it hard to get back into the rhythm and would love to one season have the opportunity to just do lap after lap to gain more confidence in the car. It is a dream car to drive, nice and light in the steering, but I still struggled with lack of race-fitness and strength. There is a fair deal of mental strength required also and I was definately intimidated lining up in grid position against such experienced and talented drivers.

Rodney had a great run in #20 and ended up with a 5th, 7th and 3rd finishing position in his heats. I struggled to match the pace of the experienced racers on a fast, hooky track and was well and truly out of my depth come the feature race time when the track was super fast and the laps times dropped dramatically. Rodney came home in 6th after starting out of position 7th on a track that was starting to get a little rough. He would have liked a little more power on such a fast track, but found the independant suspension a dream to race with compared to #8. All-in-all it was a fun nights racing to finish off our season at Charlton and leading into a hectic few weeks of titles and series round finals.

We will be back on the track again on 10th April at Maryborough for the final round of the Qld Exide Batteries series and the final round of the Fraser Coast series. We are sitting somewhere around 25th on the Fraser Coast series ladder after missing a round, and are currently in 7th on the Qld Series table. A top 10 finish would be great - a top 5 finish would be fantastic. We'd like to once again thank our sponsors The Open Range, NB Refrigeration, S & S Genrich Painting Contractors for all their support this season. Thanks also to the Harpers for letting Rodney take #20 for a run and Vern & Lindsay helping him out all night. I need to say a big thankyou to Corey Stein who was my crew for the night while Rodney was busy racing - I couldn't have run without his help.

Cathy
