Charlton Raceway - G & W Racing Series

29 cars turned up to contest the 4th round of the G & W Racing Series at Charlton.

Heat 1 Rodney started out of pole and tried his usual slow start, but it backfired on him when Stott got the jump on him and lead for the first few laps until Stott made a mistake and handed the lead to Rodney who went on to take the win from Steve Downes and Mark Ferguson.

Heat 2 Rodney started off the back and sat back while the action unfolded in front of him. Without the use of transponders I doubt they would have any idea who got what position at the end of the race. There were 6 cars that crossed the line in various forms - on the infield, sideways....etc There was plenty of position swapping and Matt Swarbrooke was awarded the win after Aidan Raymont was relegated back to 2nd and Peter Gray got 3rd. Rodney finished in 6th.

The 3rd heat Rodney started off the front row and this time got the jump on the start to lead the race from start to finish. Darran Lester and Mark Raymont coming home in 2nd and 3rd.

Being lucky with grid draws, and staying conservative to ensure he finished all his heats, Rodney had enough points to start out of 3 in the feature. Steve Price was off pole with Shaney Mac out of 2, Robert Trapp out of 4. It was good to see Toowoomba cars fill 3 of the top 4 positions. Rodney got off to a good start and settled into 2nd position. He was starting to challenge Pricey for the lead with 15 laps to go when he un-customarily spun himself out. Disappointed, but always up for a challenge, Rodney re-started at the rear. He worked the high-line where he passed 11 cars in the space of 6 laps. He was up into 6th place with 6 laps to go and was powering through the field when the tie-rod bolt broke leaving him to watch the end of the race from the infield. It was hard to be disappointed after such a hard charge through the field. Rodney was extremely happy with the car's pace and handling, setting the quickest lap time in the feature race with a 17.08. Aidan Raymont won the feature from Mark Ferguson and Quintin Clark.
