Charlton Raceway
New Years Eve at Charlton Raceway saw 10 cars line up as support for the National Super Sedan Series. Heat 1 I had pole and led the race from start to finish, with Maroske closing the gap to me in the last few laps of the race. Darran Lester finished in 3rd.
Heat 2 I started off the back row and followed behind the epic battle for the lead between Dale Grotherr, Todd Doyle and Shane Macdonald, with Macdonald pulling off some gutsy high line moves. Doyle unded up taking the win from Shaney Mac and Grotherr. I came home in 8th place.
Heat 3 I started out of 7th and finished in 4th behind Shane Macdonald, Peter Gray and Darran Lester.
The A-main saw Shane Macdonald and Peter Gray off the front row with Maroske beside me on the 2nd row. I got up inside Gray on the start but he pulled away from me. After a few laps I managed to close the gap and get back up beside him. We raced side by side for many laps, without contact. I eventually came out victorious and got in front of him but could never close to the gap to Shaney Mac who had disappeared into the distance to take the win. I came home with 2nd place and Peter Gray followed home in 3rd, with Dale Grotherr in 4th and Darran Lester in 5th.
We saw the New Year in at the track and then the festivities headed for our house with Colin & Amy Hockley, and Luke & Amanda Hollyman staying the night. We saw the sun come up reliving the nights racing.
I'd like to thank Andrew Harper and Steve Craig who came and did some work on the car to get ready for this meeting. The car only needs a few minor cosmetic fixes and will be ready to run again on January 11th as support for World Series Sprintcars.
