G & W Racing Series Round 1
The start to our 2007-2008 season kicked off at Charlton Raceway with Round One of the G & W Racing Series.
Heat 1 saw us out on a greasy track. I started out of 8 and moved through the field to finish in 4th behind Swarbrooke, Doyle and Hockley.
Heat two I started out of 5 and the track by now was extremely rough. I finished in 6th with Todd Doyle, Greg Raymont and Colin Hockey taking the main placings.
Heat three saw me off pole. I was able to pull a good gap on the rest of the field from the start of the race and led from start to finish, with Steve Price & Colin Hockley following me home.
I qualified to start the feature out of 5 with Todd Doyle, Steve Price, Aiden Raymont & Colin Hockley in front of me. Although they had graded the track at interval, it was still extremely rough for the feature. My car was bouncing a lot through the turns and I went back 2 spots to 7th before there was a restart where I found good drive on the lowline. I started moving forward through the field passing Steve Price and Aiden Raymont on the outside going into turn one moving me into 2nd position. I was unable to make an impression on Todd Doyle and was extremely happy to settle for 2nd place.
Although the track was rough, I was able to get some good drive out of it. I am hoping this has set the start of a good season 2007-2008.
At this stage I'm not sure when I will get to hit the track again as work commitments will see me fairly busy till the end of November. As soon as we've decided on the next meeting we will race at I will add it to our calendar page.
